Olympic National Park
That's me overlooking the Pacific in Olympic National Park...

Overview

This index groups place pages by what they are. Most Places are easily classified by the title someone else put on it, like National Parks, National Monuments, State Parks, etc. Some are classified because of what they are, for example historic sites, roads and rivers. Some can be singularly classified as unique, like EBR-1 (a nuclear reactor), so there's a Miscellaneous group.

The tabs above are the 11 different "groups" of place pages. They are also listed in a pecking-order of sorts. For instance, Mesa Verde is definitely a historic site, but since it's a National Park, it's listed in National Parks.

Theme Parks is heavily documented. It used to be its own section, but it's being incorporated into this site as a place.

This page contains a text listing of the Type Pages and the Places grouped within that Type. Type Pages have detailed links to, and some miscellaneous information on the listed Places

The top picks on the type pages are extremely, personally biased preferences. :-)

Note: The links in italics are links to other place pages. For instance, the Meriwether Lewis Burial Site is on the Natchez Trace Parkway page, because the burial site is on, and part of, the old Natchez Road.
