"Mosquitoes and other biting insects make camping and backcountry use during the summer rainy season virtually unbearable by all but the most dedicated outdoors person."
I was there in late October and still got bit by a 'skeeter, and that was during the West Nile scare. With Zika around, this place makes me itch just thinking about it.
The second thing to know, is this place is a swamp. A big one. A million and half acres, and none of it is more than 8 feet above sea level, and some it is sea level.
We did the airboat thing, because, well, it was the Everglades. We took the tour out of Everglade City.
