I'm going to treat the Blue Ridge Parkway a bit differently, for two reasons.

First, the three times I've been on the Parkway have been in three different seasons, early spring (no leaves on the trees), fall (fall colors on the trees), and summer (green leaves on the trees.) So if I collated the images in order, the pictures would look radically different from image to image. So, I've decided to keep the images separated by trip.

Second, I'm not really sure I could collate all the images. This is one reason why I wish Canons would have a GPS.

One final thing to notice, THERE ARE NO BLUE SKIES! The weather/fog was miserable every time I've driven the road. It's batting 0 for 3...

This trip wasn't exactly in the winter, but it was before the leaves developed on the deciduous trees...

In 2007 we specifically scheduled the trip to see the fall colors. We were almost successful.

Mother Nature never wants to cooperate with me, lol...

These were taken in early September before the leaves started changing.

Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited park in America due to its location in the East. It's a scenic park, with the tourist towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge just outside the entrance on one side, and the start of the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of my favorite roads in America on the other.

It is a hugely popular park for fall colors.

Natchez Trace Parkway

I've actually driven all 443 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway, who's history goes back hundreds of years before the industrial revolution.

Once one of the most important roads in young America, today it's preserved as a monument to its past history, with dozens of historic and scenic sites along its length. If you're travelling to a destination somewhere along the Trace, it'd be worth the extra half-day or so to drive a portion of it...
