Unfortunately with 3-D technologies becoming commonplace at movie theaters and even at home, these are less impressive as they once were. But fun, nonetheless...
Flame Tree Barbeque
One of the large counter service food venues in Discovery Island, is Flame Tree Barbeque. The food is pretty good, and some of the seating areas have spectacular views of the lagoon in front of Expedition Everest. It's interesting to note that all the themeing in this place is something about to eat something else...
Pizzafari
Pizzafari is the other counter service venue on Discovery Island. And, once again, the food's not bad. The pizza is tasty, and I really like the crust. In a nod to healthy, the pizzas actually come with a salad...The place also has interesting themeing, with bugs on the chairs, bats hanging from the ceiling, and the animal-about-to-eat-another-animal motif from Flame Tree is also here...
Camp Minnie-Mickey
Camp Minnie-Mickey is the main Character meet 'n greet area of the park, along with the centrally staged musical, Festival of the Lion King. Since there is no other exit from this area of the park, Disney used it for special events, like an after hours dinner for D23's Magic and Merriment event in December 2011.Festival of the Lion King
Festival of the Lion King is a high-energy stage show shown in-the-round. It's loosely based on the Lion King characters, using the parade floats from a parade once held in Disneyland. It used to be an open air show, with large panels on the building (that didn't show the backstage areas) open to allow fresh air and light in. At some point, the theater was closed up and the show is done in the dark. And it looks much better that way.
I have video of this attraction in both standard and high definition. Festival of the Lion King video.
